Company confirms the railroad pro-expansion studies in Mato Grosso
The railway today in Mato Grosso is present only in the stretch between the towns of Alto Taquari and Rondonópolis
The Concessionaire Towards ALL, which holds the concession of the rail network in Mato Grosso, confirmed that has been studying the project to expand the tracks to Cuiabá and then to smile in the middle-north, because of the requests of the Government of Mato Grosso and various state entities, who show interest in the work because of its importance to the state. However, data on capacity, demand and investment have not yet been defined.
According to estimates, the expansion of Rondonópolis rails to Cuiabá and later to smile, as is being studied, should require $ 5 billion in investments in total. The rails of the railroad Senator Vicente Vuolo came to Mato Grosso in 2000 with the inauguration of the Alto Taquari terminal, and advanced to Rondonopolis in 2013. In total, the stretch between Rondonópolis and Sorriso will take about 600 km.
According to the president of the Pro Railroad Forum, Francisco Vuolo, the benefits that may arise from the rails to Cuiabá and later Smile, are immeasurable. "Just consider the positive impact that the arrival of the railroad brought to municipalities that have their terminals installed as Alto Araguaia and Rondonópolis. The economic movement has increased, many companies have settled, land valued and new jobs have emerged. "
Several companies operate in the railway terminal of Rondonópolis, considered the largest in Latin America, accounting for increased revenues to the government. Currently, according to the municipality, another industry the fertilizer industry is being implemented on site, who will join with other companies in logistics, fertilizers, soybean crushing, biodiesel production, fuel distribution, among others.
Francisco Vuolo believes that to Cuiabá, the benefits will be even greater, because the city is the consumer center of the state, which will allow a flow of products being transported from Sao Paulo to Mato Grosso, the call return cargo. "And this stream, will surely bring industrial value-added products," he says. "Today the cars will return full and empty."
Another point highlighted by Francisco is that with the arrival of the train in Cuiabá, you can still explore the transport of passengers between the capital and Rondonópolis, promoting social integration between the two cities, as indicated in the feasibility studies.
"This transport task of long distances, with higher risks to truck accidents, theft and less security, not for the road transport and, yes, rail or waterway. So we have the trucks making the short distances, traveling at the same intensity, and trains for longer distances, "he argues.
